This second group of works in the “Under Construction” series is composed of six works on paper, and six oil paintings. The works on paper reflect images drawn from Chinese cityscapes, but are unique in having some compositional or figurative basis in western classical master drawings. As a body they reflect the eastern painting tradition of four representations of the seasons in series. The oil paintings similarly refer to the seasons, but in a broader sense investigate ideas of birth, growth, death, rest, memorial, and resurrection.
