I scan your eyes’ trajectory
But all I find are clouds and sky,
Which cannot vengeance rectify.

Sun and Shield

“The Lord God is a sun and shield…”
“He withholds no good thing
from those whose walk is blameless.”
“Blessed in the man who trusts in the Lord.”

The relationship between the Father and Messiah is explained here as the relationship of the sun reflecting off of a burnished shield. The relationship between man and Messiah is that of one who takes cover behind a shield.
The first relationship produces glory and light. The second requires a blameless walk, i.e. trusting in the Lord, and produces blessing.

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, that is Christ Jesus…”

Leper Colony 01

Take with you words
and return to the Lord;

Take away all iniquity;
accept what is good,
and we will pay with bulls
the vows of our lips.

当归向耶和华，用言语祷告他说：
求你除净罪孽，悦纳善行；
这样，我们就把嘴唇的祭代替牛犊献上。

This painting was made after several visits to a leper colony in asia. The visits, and hopefully the painting are a mixture of suffering and beauty.
